    Thomas Moore Lawson is the founding principal of Thomas Moore Lawson, P.C., which was formed in 1994, and has practiced with that firm and Lawson and Silek, P.L.C. since its inception in 1999. A native of Oakton, Virginia, Mr. Lawson relocated to Winchester in 1991 and has continually practiced in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region since that time. He represents businesses and individuals in both the public and private sectors. His practice focuses on zoning, planning, and land use, commercial litigation, construction law, entity formations, business transactions, domestic, bankruptcy, and real estate. He has argued and successfully tried cases in federal and state courts, including the Virginia Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and appears regularly in state and federal courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of West Virginia. He has also successfully represented clients in both the sale and purchase of manufacturing companies transacting business worldwide.

    Mr. Lawson received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law, and his B.A. from Washington and Lee University. Prior to his practice in the private sector, Mr. Lawson was a law clerk in the 31st Judicial Circuit. He serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Shenandoah Valley Manufacturers’ Association and previously served as a board member for Trex Company, LLC, Lord Fairfax Community College Educational Foundation, the Clarke County Educational Foundation, and the Shenandoah Valley Telecommuting Center.

    Mr. Lawson is a past Virginia State Bar Seventh District Ethics Committee Chairman and Virginia State Bar’s Litigation Section Board of Governor’s member. He is a member of the Litigation, Corporate Counsel, and Local Government Law sections of the Virginia State Bar. He is also a member of the Virginia State Bar, West Virginia State Bar, Winchester/Frederick County Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in all of the U.S. District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts in both states. He is also a member of the Boyd-Graves Conference.
